During the 'Press Conference on Fostering the Upgrade, Enhancement of Quality, and Progression of High-End and Sophisticated Industries,' Zhang Jinrui, the Deputy Director of the Digital Industry Division at the Beijing Municipal Economy and Information Technology Bureau, revealed that starting from 2026, the bureau will ramp up the provision of computing power resources. This intensified effort will continue through 2027, with the ambitious goal of reaching a cumulative computing power capacity of approximately 200,000 PFLOPS (petaflops) by 2027. (Note: "P" here is clarified as "PFLOPS" for better understanding, as "P" alone can be ambiguous in computing contexts.)
Simultaneously, the bureau is set to refine and execute the 'Galactic Computing Corridor' initiative. This involves setting up computing power support nodes within Beijing, collaboratively constructing corridors around the city, and extending the computing power supply to the western regions. Furthermore, the bureau is committed to upholding green and low-carbon development principles, aiming to facilitate the transformation of 40 existing data centers by 2026. Since 2023, both municipal and district-level authorities have allocated computing power subsidies exceeding 700 million yuan, propelling the utilization rate of computing power to surpass 85%.
