According to reports from supply chain media outlet Board Partners, Taiwanese motherboard manufacturers are currently grappling with a widespread surge in costs. Notably, the price of bare PCBs—a fundamental component in motherboard production—is projected to soar by at least 50% within this year, emerging as the main driver of cost escalation. Furthermore, the upward trajectory of raw material prices, exemplified by copper, coupled with constrained supplies of critical electronic components such as control chips, power devices, and MLCCs (Multilayer Ceramic Chip Capacitors), has collectively propelled material expenses for motherboard producers. Consequently, a number of motherboard manufacturers are poised to implement price increases for their products in the upcoming third quarter.
