On July 22, local time, the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) instituted fresh regulations to forbid the sale within the United States of equipment that incorporates vital hardware components sourced from Chinese firms, including Huawei, ZTE, and their affiliated entities. This move is intended to plug previously identified loopholes regarding component usage. Since 2022, the FCC has included Chinese telecommunications equipment companies like Huawei and ZTE on a restricted list. Initially, the ban was limited to complete devices, allowing equipment containing components from these firms to still penetrate the US market. However, with the enforcement of the new regulations, the sale of equipment housing hardware components with logical functions, manufactured by these companies, will be strictly prohibited.
