On Tuesday, the Semiconductor Industry Association of Malaysia announced that, driven by persistent demand for semiconductors and strong production capabilities, the country’s exports of electrical and electronic products are forecast to surpass 800 billion ringgit (about US$197 billion) by 2026. Semiconductors are expected to constitute roughly 65% of this total export value. In an interview, the association’s president, Dato’ Seri Wong Siew Hai, expressed optimism that growth momentum would persist, with export volumes potentially hitting a record high this year. Notably, Malaysia’s exports of electrical and electronic products climbed from 601 billion ringgit in 2024 to 711 billion ringgit in 2025.
