On November 19, 2025, BOE and Samsung Display announced a settlement regarding their longstanding intellectual property dispute in the display technology sector. The two companies have jointly filed an application with the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) to suspend and terminate the ongoing investigation. Subsequently, they will proceed to withdraw the U.S. Section 337 investigation and all related legal proceedings as promptly as feasible.
Previously, the ITC had been set to issue a final ruling on November 17 concerning whether BOE had infringed upon Samsung Display's OLED trade secrets. However, on November 18, the ITC's official website confirmed the receipt of a joint application from both parties to withdraw the case. The dispute, which originated in December 2022, has now reached a resolution after three years of legal proceedings.
As part of the settlement, both companies have mutually agreed to withdraw all pending lawsuits not only in the United States but also in China and other jurisdictions. The specific terms of the settlement agreement remain confidential and have not been publicly disclosed.
