The United States House of Representatives has prohibited the use of WhatsApp on official devices and web browsers, citing concerns over the app's opacity in data protection measures, unencrypted data storage practices, and other inherent security vulnerabilities. This directive was issued by the House's Cybersecurity Office, which further suggested alternative platforms including Microsoft Teams, Amazon Wickr, Signal, Apple iMessage, and Facetime. Despite Meta's vehement opposition, emphasizing WhatsApp's robust security features, the House has decided not to reverse its stance.
