Microsoft has unveiled Mu, a novel local language model tailored for Windows 11, designed to refine users' linguistic interactions and enhance the search capabilities within system settings. Mu, an encoder-decoder model with 330 million parameters, operates efficiently on Copilot+ computers equipped with dedicated NPUs, boasting a decoding speed exceeding 100 tokens per second. Integrated into the newly introduced broker feature within the Windows Settings app, Mu is currently accessible exclusively to participants in the Insider Preview Program. To experience this feature, users must update to Windows 11 Build 26120.3964 or later.
