At the 2026 Yunqi Conference, Wu Yongming, the CEO of Alibaba Group, remarked that the rapid advancement of AI is propelling humanity into a new epoch—the machine intelligence era. In this era, intelligence will transform into a mass-producible commodity. He articulated two fundamental perspectives: firstly, the cumulative volume of machine-generated thought will vastly outstrip that of human cognition, potentially surpassing it by a factor of over a thousand; secondly, current AI applications are merely in their infancy, with the defining products of the machine intelligence era still on the horizon.
Against this backdrop, Alibaba unveiled its strategic commitment to long-term investments in three essential infrastructures for the machine intelligence era: AI models, AI chips, and AI cloud services. Specific initiatives encompass the QianWen team's ambition to develop a novel model with a capacity ranging from 5T to 10T, the launch of a cutting-edge AI chip, the Zhenwu V900, and the objective to expand the global data centers operated by Alibaba Cloud to exceed 20GW in capacity by 2032.
Wu Yongming underscored that machine intelligence is not poised to supplant human intellect; rather, it will serve as a catalyst for providing sophisticated intellectual resources. This transformation holds the promise of unlocking growth potential on a scale of trillions, liberating humanity from strenuous mental exertions, and enabling us to dedicate our energies to exploration, creation, and the appreciation of beauty.
