Microsoft's CEO, Satya Nadella, has recently hailed Copilot as a 'new operating system for work.' However, it's noteworthy that this so-called 'work OS' is predominantly constructed upon Chromium browser technology. Despite incorporating a modest quantity of native WinUI components, the core interface and functionality of Copilot are still heavily reliant on a comprehensive Chromium browser environment. Since its debut in May 2023, Microsoft has been incessantly refining and enhancing Copilot. This includes integrating the GPT-4o model, enabling text-to-image generation and editing capabilities within Word and Excel, and introducing intelligent Actions for streamlining automated tasks. Nevertheless, the latest iteration of Copilot has ignited controversy due to its excessive memory consumption. This is because its installation directory encompasses the complete set of Edge browser files, resulting in a significant surge in memory usage during operation, which adversely affects devices with lower specifications. Looking ahead, Microsoft intends to overhaul Copilot by incorporating AI code tools and intelligent agent functionalities. It's worth mentioning that certain application features will be subject to additional charges based on usage.
