Tech behemoths like Nvidia, Intel, and Huawei are actively advancing in this domain. Henan, often dubbed the "capital of synthetic diamonds," has witnessed its related enterprises gain significant traction in the capital market, with their stock prices skyrocketing.
At present, domestic synthetic diamond companies have forged collaborations with several tech giants, with some of their products already integrated into the supply chain and achieving small-scale production. Diamonds not only outperform in heat dissipation but also offer benefits such as electrical insulation and a thermal expansion coefficient that closely matches that of silicon. Consequently, institutions generally hold a positive outlook on the market potential of diamonds. Among these, diamond-copper composite materials, due to their cost-efficiency, are anticipated to be the first to see widespread adoption.
However, the current diamond heat dissipation business has yet to yield profits for companies, and the industry's progress has fallen short of market expectations. The cultivated diamond consumer market has remained untouched by this trend, with prices maintaining stability. Domestic synthetic diamond companies transitioning from industrial tools and jewelry to the AI chip heat dissipation sector still confront a myriad of technical and commercialization hurdles. These include interfacial thermal resistance, low production yields, scaling up production capacity, and obtaining customer certifications.
Presently, these companies are in the phase of delivering samples to achieving small-scale production, with large-scale production anticipated around 2027. Looking ahead, whether diamonds can truly emerge as the "savior" for heat dissipation in AI chips remains to be substantiated by corporate business revenues.
