The internal memo unveiled that Meta is poised to commence the manufacturing of its 'Iris' AI chip in September, with a strategic goal to elevate its computing capacity to an impressive 14 gigawatts by the following year. This marks a significant increase from the 7 gigawatts of computing infrastructure planned for deployment this year. In a bid to bolster its computing infrastructure, Meta has inked multiple long-term supply agreements. These include a deal with Samsung Electronics for memory chips, an agreement with Sandisk for flash storage, and a pact with Sumitomo Electric for optical fiber equipment.
