Meta plans to start mass-producing AI chips codenamed “Iris” in September this year and aims to increase its overall computing power capacity to 14 gigawatts by 2027, roughly double the deployment scale of this year (7 gigawatts). To support this computing power expansion, Meta has signed long-term supply agreements with Samsung Electronics, SanDisk, and Sumitomo Electric. In response to this news, Meta's pre-market stock price fell by over 1.5%, while SanDisk's pre-market gains expanded to 4%.
