Officials from the U.S. Department of Defense have verified that xAI, a company under Musk's ownership, has entered into a contract with the department. This agreement authorizes the U.S. military to employ xAI's advanced large model, Grok, within its classified systems. Previously, the exclusive privilege of being utilized in the military's most secure systems was granted only to Anthropic's Claude model. Nevertheless, owing to security apprehensions and Anthropic's stance against permitting Claude for all lawful applications, xAI has emerged as the second model to gain such authorization. The question of whether xAI will entirely supplant Anthropic remains unresolved. Furthermore, during the operation against Venezuelan President Maduro, Anthropic worked in tandem with big data firm Palantir to leverage Claude's capabilities.
