Li Liang, Vice President of Douyin Group, pointed out that while AI technology has made it easier to create and spread rumors, the platform is harnessing the same technology to combat this menace. Tackling the root causes of rumors necessitates collaborative efforts from multiple stakeholders to provide clues and evidence. In 2023, Douyin took a proactive step by introducing its first-ever set of platform regulations and industry guidelines. Looking ahead to September 2025, the platform has announced an upgrade to its AI content identification capabilities, with the launch of the "AI Douyin Fact-Checking" feature. This innovative tool empowers users to access comprehensive information when they come across content that is prone to misunderstandings or when they search for information related to rumors. For content that is either misleading or suspected of being false, a clickable link will be provided. Upon clicking, users will be directed to the "Fact-Checking Card" page. Here, the "Fact-Checking Card" corresponding to trending events will also furnish more detailed information about the rumors in question.
