Recently, a research team led by Academician Guo Guangcan from the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), which also includes researchers Li Chuanfeng and Chen Geng, joined forces with scientists from Fudan University and the University of Naples Federico II in Italy. Together, they achieved a significant breakthrough in the study of the magic resource theory for measurement-based quantum computing. The team introduced two innovative concepts: 'injected magic resource' and 'latent magic resource.' They clarified the mechanism behind the accumulation of quantum advantage by employing a 'pouring water into a cup' analogy. Their findings were rigorously tested and validated on a high-quality four-photon experimental platform. This research offers valuable theoretical tools and practical experimental guidance for optimizing quantum algorithms, minimizing resource wastage, and driving progress in fault-tolerant quantum computing. The relevant research results were published in Physical Review Letters.
