On Thursday, the South Korean internet behemoth Kakao Group made an announcement, revealing its intention to raise 50 billion won (roughly equivalent to $36.1 million) within the next five - year period. This fundraising effort is aimed at bolstering artificial intelligence (AI) research at four national research institutions across South Korea. As per the agreement, Kakao will provide financial support to the national institutes of science and technology situated in Daejeon, Gwangju, Daegu, and Ulsan. The goal is to nurture and develop regional AI ecosystems in these areas.
