QuestMobile's Monthly Report on the AI Application Industry for August 2025 reveals that the AI sector is undergoing a fresh surge of growth, propelled by the release of the Opinions on the In-Depth Implementation of the 'AI Plus' Initiative. This policy document delineates clear three-phase objectives for the years 2027, 2030, and 2035, bolstered by eight foundational pillars. Data underscores that, as of August 2025, the user base for native applications developed by internet and AI technology firms has surged to 277 million. Furthermore, AI plugins integrated within these apps have drawn in an impressive 622 million users, culminating in a total mobile AI application user base of 645 million. Additionally, AI assistants pre-installed on smartphones boast 529 million users, while PC-based applications account for 204 million users. In accordance with the outlined targets, by 2030, the adoption rate of next-generation smart terminals and agents is projected to exceed 90%, signaling substantial market expansion prospects over the forthcoming five years. Among the top 50 AI applications ranked by monthly active users, 29 are of the application plugin variety. Within the top 10 sectors, AI search engines and comprehensive AI assistants command user bases of 672 million and 651 million, respectively. However, the current landscape of AI application formats is not without its hurdles, including sluggish growth in native apps with user bases in the hundreds of millions and obstacles faced by mid-to-long-tail applications.
