On June 23, Tesla proudly launched its autonomous Robotaxi service in Austin, Texas, initially deploying a fleet of approximately 10 Model Y vehicles. The groundbreaking news was announced by Tesla CEO Elon Musk, and was met with excitement as several social media influencers shared videos of their maiden rides. Currently, these Robotaxis are exclusively available to invited passengers and operate within a designated area of Austin, offering a flat fare of $4.20 per trip. Each vehicle is equipped with a safety supervisor and lacks traditional driving controls, ensuring safety through advanced intervention devices like an emergency stop button. Tesla aims to progressively expand this innovative service across broader areas in the coming months.
