On May 13, Honda announced that due to the current slowdown in demand for electric vehicles, it has decided to postpone its comprehensive electric vehicle (EV) value chain construction plan for Canada by approximately two years. The plan, originally scheduled for announcement on April 25, 2021, is being delayed in an effort to strengthen Honda's EV supply chain in North America. The company stated that it will continue to monitor market demand and will reveal the specific timing for the resumption of the plan once the project is finalized.
