Toyota Motor Corporation announced on Thursday that it anticipates a 20% decline in its operating profit for the current fiscal year, which concludes in March of next year. This projection is primarily attributed to the depreciation of the US dollar and the tariff policies implemented by US President Trump. The company estimates its operating profit for this fiscal year to reach 3.8 trillion yen (approximately $26 billion), a significant drop from the 4.8 trillion yen recorded in the previous fiscal year. Toyota highlighted that fluctuations in exchange rates are the primary factor influencing its performance forecast, with the depreciation of the US dollar against the yen expected to incur a loss of 745 billion yen for the company. The recent pressure on the US dollar is attributed to the uncertainty surrounding Trump's tariff policies. Furthermore, Toyota estimates that tariffs alone have already resulted in a loss of 180 billion yen in April and May.
