The state of California, alongside 16 other US states, have collectively filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration, contesting its decision to halt a $5 billion federal funding program for electric vehicle (EV) charging stations, known as the NEVI plan. These states argue that the Trump administration's directive to curtail subsidies for plug-in vehicles is unlawful and will not only impede the growth of the EV industry but also exacerbate environmental pollution. Initially, the NEVI plan was a component of a bipartisan infrastructure bill enacted during the Biden administration, with the aim of establishing a comprehensive EV charging network across the nation to foster the adoption of zero-emission vehicles. The lawsuit has been lodged with the federal court in Seattle.
