On April 4, Japan's Liberal Democratic Party convened a meeting to deliberate on the repercussions of the tariff measures imposed by the Trump administration in the United States and to strategize countermeasures. During the gathering, the perspectives of the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association and the Japan Auto Parts Industries Association were sought, with the objective of informing the development of supportive measures. In his address, Goshihonodera Goshun, the chairman of the Policy Research Council, voiced his aspiration to heed the views of all stakeholders and promptly devise countermeasures to safeguard national livelihoods, employment, and the automotive industry. Furthermore, he disclosed plans to visit automotive enterprises in Gunma Prefecture the following week.
