In response to the incident involving the Xiaomi SU7, China's Ministry of Emergency Management has issued a reminder to consumers, emphasizing that the most advanced intelligent driving vehicles currently available on the market only reach Level L2. The Ministry cautions against placing excessive trust or mythologizing autonomous driving technology. On March 29, the Ministry released a statement regarding the Xiaomi SU7 accident, clarifying that based on China's standards, autonomous driving technology is categorized into six levels, ranging from L0 to L5. Notably, Levels L0, L1, and L2 are strictly defined as driver assistance systems. The intelligent driver assistance functions integrated into vehicles currently on the market similarly cap at Level L2.
