On April 2, the European Commission unveiled a proposal granting automakers an additional two years to meet the 2025 EU carbon dioxide emission targets for cars and vans, extending the compliance period from the original one year to three years. This proposal evaluates automakers' compliance by averaging carbon emissions over the span of 2025 to 2027. However, the proposal still requires ratification by both the European Parliament and EU member states before it can be implemented.
