Recently, Lars Moravy, Vice President of Engineering at Tesla, revealed that the company has developed its most advanced high-voltage power battery pack to date for the Roadster, incorporating over 20 years of Tesla's experience in building electric vehicles. Unlike mass-market models such as the Model 3 and Model Y, the Roadster's battery design focuses on power density to achieve ultimate performance. The vehicle utilizes 4680 cylindrical cells, with an estimated battery energy density exceeding 300Wh/kg, significantly higher than mainstream electric vehicles and a key factor supporting its thousand-kilometer range. The battery pack adopts a CTC (Cell-to-Chassis) integrated design, directly embedded into the chassis, enhancing body rigidity and reducing the number of components. The Roadster is equipped with an approximately 200kWh battery pack, targeting a WLTP range of 992 to 1000 kilometers, and features a 900V high-voltage platform for ultra-fast charging, capable of replenishing the battery from 15% to 85% in just 10 minutes. Additionally, the vehicle incorporates fan negative pressure adsorption technology and a gas propulsion system derived from SpaceX, further enhancing its performance.
