Several Chinese automakers are ramping up their research and development endeavors focused on solid-state batteries. On October 12, Chery Automobile announced that its battery division's R&D efforts for solid-state batteries are making steady progress. Earlier, on October 8, Chery Automobile unveiled a series of procurement projects for solid-state battery equipment slated for 2026, encompassing crucial areas such as R&D, preparation, and testing.
Beyond Chery, other leading domestic new energy automakers, including BYD, SAIC Motor, and Dongfeng Motor, are also vigorously pursuing the development of solid-state batteries. Industry experts highlight that the adoption of solid-state batteries represents a significant trend in the global automotive industry's transition to new energy sources and stands as a key competitive arena among automakers.
With the intensifying competition in the new energy vehicle sector, it is anticipated that major Chinese automakers will progressively introduce vehicle models equipped with solid-state batteries in the near future. Consequently, domestic battery supply chain companies are poised to seize new growth opportunities.
