In August 2024, Gao, an automotive self-media blogger, published a collision review video of the Xiaomi SU7, which quickly amassed over 3 million views. In the video, he alleged that the Xiaomi SU7 suffered a total power failure and that its emergency rescue call system malfunctioned post-collision due to inherent design flaws. However, on July 17, 2026, the Haidian District People's Court in Beijing found Gao guilty of damaging the reputation of goods. He was sentenced to one year and eight months in prison and fined 100,000 yuan. The court discovered that Gao had concealed the fact that the power cord of the small battery had been disconnected prior to the collision. He also used misleading images of a small battery damaged by a forklift and falsely claimed that the eCall function did not work properly after the collision. These actions severely tarnished the reputation of Xiaomi Auto.
