On June 24, under public pressure, three prominent navigation platforms—AutoNavi, Baidu Maps, and Tencent Maps—removed splash advertisements. However, a mere four days later, users began reporting that splash ads had once again surfaced on apps such as AutoNavi and Baidu Maps. This morning, a two-second splash ad was still observable upon the initial launch of AutoNavi Maps.

Following the uproar caused by the incident titled "Navigation App Redirects to Ad, Driver Nearly Crashes," splash ads on mainstream navigation apps vanished once more. According to Weibo Robert's data, 69% of users expressed outrage over the safety hazards posed by splash ads on navigation software. Meanwhile, 19% of users believed that the removal of ads was merely a short-term public relations maneuver in response to public sentiment, and 12% called upon regulatory bodies to amend relevant laws and regulations.

Advertising revenue constitutes more than 60% of the total income for navigation platforms. Analysts in the internet and technology sectors have noted that the monetization of navigation apps should not come at the expense of their primary functionalities. The controversy surrounding splash ads on navigation apps has been ongoing for quite some time, with platform corrections often being reactive and emergency-driven, resulting in a perpetual cycle of "rectification-rebound-re-rectification-re-rebound."
