On June 18, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, together with the Ministry of Commerce, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and the National Energy Administration, collectively rolled out the 2026 New Energy Vehicle (NEV) Rural Outreach Program. This program is set to synergize with established brand initiatives, notably the 'NEV Consumption Season in Thousands of Counties and Towns,' specifically targeting county-level cities that exhibit considerable market potential yet have seen limited NEV adoption. By orchestrating experiential consumption settings, including offline vehicle exhibitions and test drives, complemented by online strategies such as livestreaming to drive traffic and online consultations, the program endeavors to entice consumers from neighboring towns to make in-store purchases, thereby fostering growth in offline retail.

Moreover, the program will rally NEV sales entities, after-sales maintenance services, charging and battery swap service providers, as well as financial service firms like insurance and credit companies, to collaboratively engage in rural outreach endeavors. This collective effort is aimed at refining the NEV application landscape in rural areas and elevating the standard of services provided. Beyond this, the program is committed to championing the deployment of technologies encompassing intelligent connected vehicles, novel charging and battery swap infrastructures, integrated 'photovoltaic-energy storage-charging' configurations, and vehicle-to-grid interaction within rural locales.
