On June 18, reports surfaced indicating that the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, in partnership with the Ministry of Commerce, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and the National Energy Administration, have collectively launched the 2026 Rural New Energy Vehicle Promotion Initiative. The core objective of this initiative is to accelerate the transition from traditional vehicles to new energy vehicles in rural regions. This will be achieved by setting up specialized vehicle replacement zones, extensively promoting subsidy programs, and offering comprehensive, one-stop services. These services encompass vehicle inspections, evaluations, recycling, and assistance with subsidy applications. Through these measures, the initiative seeks to boost the visibility and accessibility of favorable policies in rural areas, thereby simplifying the process for rural consumers to obtain subsidies. Notably, when rural consumers opt to replace their old vehicles with new energy vehicles, they are eligible to apply for subsidies without any limitations on the number of applications.
