Tesla's official Twitter handle recently unveiled that the supervised iteration of its Full Self-Driving (FSD) system will soon make its debut in China. Reacting to this news, Liu Xianming, the leader of the General Intelligence Center at Xiaopeng Group, embraced the impending competition. He emphasized that Xiaopeng's competitive edge stems from its adeptness at tailoring solutions to the unique Chinese market landscape, its robust data accumulation, and its optimized computing capabilities. Liu believes that a head-to-head clash between the two automotive giants will catalyze mutual advancement.

IT Home observed that both Tesla and Xiaopeng are committed to pure vision technology pathways. Liu Xianming opined that the indispensability of LiDAR hinges on the specific technology stack employed, and urged users to prioritize tangible performance outcomes over technological components. Xiaopeng, steadfast in its LiDAR-free approach, leverages high computing power to deliver stellar results.

Xiaopeng's CEO, He Xiaopeng, reaffirmed that by August of this year, Xiaopeng's Vision-Language-Action (VLA) autonomous driving system will comprehensively outperform Tesla's FSD within the Chinese market. He elaborated that, at present, the VLA system exhibits superior performance on narrow streets, complex road conditions, and in longitudinal driving scenarios. However, he acknowledged that lateral maneuvers and extreme U-turn situations are still undergoing refinement. Concurrently, he highlighted FSD's rapid evolutionary pace, cautioning against unfair comparisons between Xiaopeng's dynamic progress and FSD's current, static state.
