On May 21, the National Energy Administration unveiled data concerning the national electric vehicle charging infrastructure for April 2026. According to the data, as of the end of April 2026, the total number of electric vehicle charging infrastructure units (guns) in China had soared to 21.955 million, marking a notable year-on-year increase of 47.4%. Among these, there were 4.907 million public charging infrastructure units (guns), experiencing a year-on-year rise of 29.6%. The total rated power of public charging piles stood at 237 million kilowatts, with an average power output of approximately 48.38 kilowatts. Additionally, there were 17.048 million private charging infrastructure units (guns), reflecting a year-on-year surge of 53.5%. The installed electrical capacity for private charging facilities reached 149 million kilovolt-amperes.
