Nissan Motor, currently in the midst of a business restructuring phase, has announced its intention to downsize its Yokohama plant. This move signifies the inaugural restructuring effort for a domestic parts factory within this ongoing restructuring process. Prior to this, Nissan has already halted production at seven vehicle assembly plants across the globe. Owing to the Yokohama plant's suboptimal operating rate and outdated facilities, the downsizing is projected to commence post-2028. Nevertheless, considering the plant's pivotal role in advancing trial production of all-solid-state batteries, Nissan is leaning towards not entirely shutting down the facility.
