At the 2026 Beijing Auto Show, Nissan took center stage by presenting its cutting-edge Urban Plug-in Hybrid SUV Concept and Terrano Plug-in Hybrid Concept. In a strategic move, its joint venture, Dongfeng Nissan, was announced as the official partner of the Nissan Formula E Team for the Chinese segment of the twelfth season. Following the successful launch of the NX8, the inaugural SUV in Nissan's new energy N series on April 8, these two concept cars are set to further diversify Nissan's new energy SUV portfolio. The Urban Plug-in Hybrid SUV Concept leverages global resources to cater to the specific demands of the Chinese market, while the Terrano Plug-in Hybrid Concept stays true to Nissan's renowned off-road legacy. Nissan's CEO disclosed that production versions of these two concept cars are slated for release within the next year, creating a fresh lineup of new energy SUVs in tandem with the NX8. Over the ensuing year, Nissan has ambitious plans to introduce five new energy models and has also rolled out a new long-term vision, clearly defining its strategic stance in three pivotal markets, with China being a key focus. Commencing in 2025, Nissan will roll out multiple new models in China, with select models earmarked for global export, and will simultaneously establish a comprehensive overseas after-sales service system. Furthermore, Nissan's Formula E Gen3 EVO race car was a prominent feature at the booth, with the team gearing up to participate in three races across China this summer.
