The swift proliferation of electric vehicles has transformed public charging networks into an indispensable part of our infrastructure. However, their security measures are currently on par with those of standard consumer-grade IoT devices, creating a vulnerability that could lead to extensive malicious shutdowns. Researchers have pointed out that the use of predictable device identifiers and inadequate authentication protocols could allow attackers to expand their reach from disrupting individual drivers to crippling the entire public charging system across a city.
