Based on a Bloomberg report dated April 17, BYD is currently engaged in discussions regarding its potential membership in the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA). This strategic move would grant BYD a platform to voice its perspectives in Europe, a region where it confronts import tariffs on electric vehicles. A spokesperson from ACEA has verified that BYD has indeed applied for membership, although a definitive decision is still pending.

Should BYD's application be approved, it will mark a historic milestone as the first Chinese automaker to join the ranks of ACEA. Presently, ACEA boasts a membership of 17 companies, encompassing international automotive giants like Ford and Honda. BYD, demonstrating its commitment to expanding its footprint in the European market, has outlined ambitious plans. These include establishing roughly 1,000 sales outlets across Europe by the conclusion of 2025, doubling this figure by the end of 2026, and constructing manufacturing facilities in nations such as Hungary.
