Lamborghini has announced its decision to abandon plans for a fully electric sports car, instead prioritizing the development of hybrid vehicles. This move makes it yet another automaker adjusting its strategy due to lower-than-expected demand for electric vehicles. The previously planned fully electric models will now be converted into plug-in hybrid models, including the next-generation Urus model originally scheduled for launch in 2029. Lamborghini stated that the market is not yet ready for a transition to fully electric vehicles, and therefore, it will prioritize the development of hybrid technology.
