BAIC BluePark has declared itself one of the inaugural batch of enterprises to secure the green light for L3-level autonomous driving models, paving the way for their marketing and operation on public roads. Building on its strengths in L3 model development and regulatory approval, the company intends to persist in its rollout strategy for mid-to-high-end brands, with a number of products already in the works. On December 15, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology unveiled the first round of approvals for L3-level conditionally autonomous driving models in China. The ARCFOX Alpha S (L3 version) from BAIC BluePark made the cut and is set to embark on road operation trials in designated zones within Beijing. This model boasts 34 high-performance sensors, ensuring full-link safety redundancy backup. It has undergone rigorous testing and verification, clocking in over 800,000 kilometers of equivalent mileage testing. This approval heralds BAIC New Energy's shift from technical validation to mass production and deployment in the autonomous driving arena. The company aims to commence L3 operations in select scenarios in the first quarter of 2026, expediting its path to commercialization.
