On December 16, reports emerged indicating that during a targeted survey of specific entities, Changan Automobile revealed that its subsidiary, Shenlan Auto, had secured an access permit for intelligent connected vehicle products boasting L3-level autonomous driving capabilities on December 15. This feature facilitates autonomous driving within a single lane on highways and urban expressways amidst traffic congestion, with a top speed capped at 50 KM/h.

As for the commercialization of L3 technology, Changan Automobile has outlined plans to undertake road testing trials in tandem with Changan Vehicle Connectivity Technology during the first quarter of 2026. Following the official enactment of pertinent national regulations and policies, the company will move forward with obtaining product access approval and launching the technology in the market, specifically targeting C-end (consumer-end) users.

Changan Automobile boasts a well-rounded L3 strategy, with Avita, Shenlan, and Qiyuan set to progressively roll out corresponding models in the near future. Furthermore, with the anticipated expansion of L3 technology's reach, it is projected to be incorporated into vehicle models priced at RMB 150,000 in the foreseeable future.
