On December 16th, news emerged that XPeng has secured the road test license for L3 autonomous driving in Guangzhou and has already initiated regular testing. XPeng's Vice President, @Thomas Electric Train, took to Weibo to express his excitement, stating that a full rollout of L3 autonomous driving capabilities is anticipated in the first quarter of 2026. He also mentioned that some users might get to experience it even earlier.

Earlier, XPeng's Chairman, He Xiaopeng, had announced that the company is working on a cutting-edge VLA large model. The plan is to invite pioneer users to participate in testing the second-generation VLA in December 2025. Subsequently, a full rollout will commence on Ultra models in the first quarter of 2026. This initiative aims to ensure the safe navigation of vehicles across various road conditions, including challenging scenarios like alleys and narrow pathways.
