Recently, the news that a "350,000-yuan all-electric Maserati sold out in a blink" has captured widespread public attention. Promotional posters from Maserati 4S stores across various regions reveal that the starting price for its all-electric SUV model, the Grecale Folgore, is set at 358,800 yuan. This marks a substantial reduction from its official guide price of 898,800 yuan, equating to a price slash of over 60%.

Sales representatives clarified that the 358,800-yuan price tag applies to a limited batch of vehicles, specifically earmarked for the grand opening of a new dealership. Nationwide, there are only around 70 to 80 such units available, and this price reflects the base model without any additional options. After factoring in selected extras, the final price hovers around 400,000 yuan. Nevertheless, the stock was swiftly depleted, with some buyers placing orders without even taking the vehicle for a test drive.

Behind this dramatic price cut lies the persistent downturn in Maserati's sales performance in China. In 2024, Maserati managed to sell only 1,228 vehicles in the Chinese market, experiencing a year-on-year slump of over 70%. During the first nine months of 2025, sales figures remained sluggish, reaching just 1,023 vehicles.

Several factors contribute to this sales decline, including adjustments to the product lineup, delays in electrification efforts, and a lack of advanced intelligent features. Maserati's once-popular Levante model has been discontinued, with no replacement expected until 2027. Moreover, following the discontinuation of the Ghibli sedan, there are no immediate plans to introduce a new model to fill the void.

In terms of electrification, the Grecale Folgore relies on a 400-volt electrical platform, which falls short in terms of range and performance when compared to domestic competitors in the same price bracket. Regarding intelligent features, the vehicle's infotainment system lacks support for OTA (Over-the-Air) upgrades and is only equipped with basic functionalities such as cruise control.

Furthermore, Maserati is also grappling with intense competitive pressure from high-end domestic brands. Models like the Xiaomi SU7 and Li Auto L7 have achieved comprehensive superiority in terms of range, intelligent driving capabilities, and cabin experience, posing a significant challenge to Maserati's market position.
