Market research firm predicts that by 2026, global foldable display shipments will reach 29 million units, a year-on-year increase of 44%, reversing the 12% decline in 2025. This statistic specifically refers to shipments of internal displays for foldable devices, distinct from sales of end-user products. Wide foldable screens will be the primary driver of market growth this year, expected to account for 44% of total shipments, with book-style foldable screens and clamshell foldable screens occupying the remaining share. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 and iPhone Duo are expected to drive demand growth for wide foldable screens. Samsung Display is projected to capture 66% of the foldable display market this year, while the shares of several domestic panel manufacturers are expected to decline. Currently, demand for foldable devices in the Chinese market is weak, but more domestic smartphone manufacturers are planning to enter the wide foldable product segment, potentially intensifying market competition. Technologically, most foldable displays this year are expected to adopt LTPO technology, which, despite its high cost, allows for fine-tuned refresh rate adjustments, making it more suitable for high-end foldable devices.
