Omdia's latest research indicates that in the third quarter of 2026, smartphone shipments in India declined by 26% year-on-year to 35.8 million units, marking the lowest level for the same period in nearly a decade. Rising phone prices and cautious consumer spending have curbed demand for replacements, while delayed festive restocking also impacted shipments for the quarter. Samsung reclaimed the top spot, with vivo, OPPO, Xiaomi, and Apple ranking second to fifth. It is projected that by 2027, influenced by high phone prices and prolonged replacement cycles, market shipments will continue to decline, with a low single-digit percentage drop.
