Hong Kong’s inaugural five-year plan envisions the establishment of a center for low-altitude innovative applications across the Asia-Pacific region. A journalist from People’s Financial News discovered that Hong Kong’s task force dedicated to advancing the low-altitude economy is deeply involved in crafting the ‘Action Plan for Fostering the Low-Altitude Economy’. This plan aims to refine regulatory structures, standardize protocols, and bolster infrastructure development. Key initiatives encompass tight collaboration with the mainland to expedite cross-border low-altitude logistics test flights and progressively construct a low-altitude cross-border logistics network within the Greater Bay Area. Concurrently, research into low-altitude infrastructure technologies will be accelerated to create an intelligent low-altitude traffic management system. Presently, the government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region has commenced the drafting procedure and will persist in gathering insights from various stakeholders, with an anticipated completion date within this year. The government will employ a multifaceted approach, endorsing the creation of regional and international benchmarks while vigorously fostering bilateral governmental partnerships. It will consider entering into memorandums of understanding on low-altitude economic collaboration with additional regions, progressively extending to multilateral and global cooperation, and advocating for the collaborative establishment of an international low-altitude economy cooperation organization alongside the mainland.
