On September 12, 2026, detailed visual information about Meta's next-generation high-end mixed reality headset, Phoenix, was revealed. Positioned as a premium device, it features a lightweight and open design, utilizing an external computing module solution. The Phoenix offers independent adjustment of interpupillary distance, comes with a detachable nose pad, and incorporates built-in eye-tracking technology, with calibration steps similar to those of the Apple Vision Pro. From the exposed images, the Phoenix resembles glasses, lacking the traditional face-hugging mask of VR headsets and instead relying on a nose pad to secure it to the user's face. Multiple sensors are strategically placed on both sides of the device and beneath the temple arms for environmental awareness, eye tracking, and hand gesture tracking.
