A software developer from Poland has introduced an iOS application named Zuckoff. This app scans for Bluetooth signals to pinpoint nearby Meta or Ray-Ban smart glasses and promptly sends out alerts, serving as a reminder for users to stay vigilant against potential covert recording. At present, the app boasts around 5,000 active users. The basic iteration of the app is available for free, whereas the Pro version comes with the added functionality of background notifications. Nevertheless, the app does have its constraints—it necessitates both the phone and the app to be active for detection purposes and lacks the capability to thwart recording, ascertain the identity of the user, or verify the status of the camera. Furthermore, Meta smart glasses have been a subject of persistent criticism due to privacy-related issues. Despite the inclusion of an LED indicator that lights up when the camera is operational and the ability to remotely disable glasses that attempt to block the indicator via software updates, certain users still find ways to obstruct the indicator.
