The Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) of India has recommended a comprehensive investigation into Xiaomi's business operations in India, citing doubts about Xiaomi's business model and compliance with foreign investment regulations. This recommendation is still pending approval from India's Ministry of Corporate Affairs, and whether a formal case will be filed remains undetermined. Previously, Xiaomi had already faced a freeze of INR 55.51 billion in funds in India due to alleged illegal remittances. On September 10, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun stated that he was unaware of the specifics but hoped that India would provide a fair, just, transparent, and non-discriminatory business environment for companies from all countries investing in India.
