HTC has unveiled its latest innovation in the form of round-frame AI smart glasses, the VIVE Eagle, alongside a suite of enhanced software features. This cutting-edge product has successfully made its debut in the European, North American, and Australian markets. Shen Ye-ping, HTC's Senior Vice President, commented on the current state of the smartphone industry, noting a significant slowdown in innovation. He revealed that the U24 Pro, one of HTC's flagship smartphones, will wrap up its primary sales cycle by the year's end, signaling a shift in the company's priorities. The smartphone business, once a cornerstone of HTC's portfolio, will now take a backseat as the company redirects its resources towards AI wearable technology, with AI glasses emerging as a key strategic area.
However, Shen also left the door open for a potential reevaluation of HTC's smartphone strategy, should groundbreaking technological advancements emerge in the smartphone sector in the future. Since the introduction of the VIVE Eagle series in 2025, the revenue generated from this line of products has witnessed remarkable growth, even eclipsing the earnings from the smartphone business this year. The launch of this new product and its subsequent market expansion represent a pivotal moment in HTC's ongoing efforts to recalibrate its business structure and adapt to the evolving technological landscape.
