On June 9, 2026, Apple took the wraps off iOS 27 at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), introducing an innovative Recovery mode. To activate this mode, users simply need to long-press the power button after shutting down their device. This new Recovery mode encompasses five core functionalities: the groundbreaking Recovery Assistant, Software Update, Diagnostic Mode, Erase All Content and Settings, and the traditional Recovery Mode. A notable addition is the 'Nearby Device Recovery' feature, which enables iPhones or iPads running the same system version to wirelessly assist in the recovery of a malfunctioning device. However, it's important to note that both devices must be connected to Wi-Fi, unlocked, and this feature is only compatible with certain models. Moreover, the Camera app interface now offers customization options, allowing users to tailor it to their preferences. Siri, too, is set for a complete overhaul, transitioning from a mere voice assistant to an always-online intelligent agent capable of executing cross-app operations with ease.
