On May 1, a new regulation will come into effect in Beijing, banning both the flight and sale of drones across the city. In response, all DJI stores in Beijing have already commenced the process of removing relevant products from their shelves. By 4:00 PM, the sale of drones will be completely halted at all DJI stores in Beijing. Prior to 4:00 PM, only a limited selection of models will be briefly available for purchase at the flagship store located in the China World Trade Center, with prices matching those listed on the official website. All drones in Beijing must be cleared from store inventories by April 30. Additionally, online platforms will cease shipping drones to Beijing, and any online purchases made after May 1 will have to be shipped to addresses outside of Beijing. Furthermore, DJI stores in Beijing will discontinue providing repair services for drones. It is worth noting that purchasing drones now requires real-name registration and activation. On e-commerce platforms, while some drone products can still be ordered on JD.com, the majority of products on Tmall do not support sales within Beijing. The 'Beijing Municipal Regulations on the Management of Unmanned Aircraft' outline specific requirements regarding controlled airspace, prohibited behaviors, real-name registration, and other relevant aspects. This legislation aims to strike a balance between stringent management and the needs of production and daily life. DJI's product range covers a wide array of scenarios, and its withdrawal from the Beijing market serves as a microcosm of the industry's transformation. This move also prompts consumers to reconsider the responsibilities associated with low-altitude flight.
